Bike Paths

The City of Whittlesea is planning for a dirt jump facility in the Doreen area. Council along with the Doreen Dirt Jump Advocacy Group are currently investigating locations for a permanent dirt jump facility and we want to hear from you. Let us know what locations you think would be best for a future dirt jump facility and any other ideas and feedback about this plan.

We have undertaken preliminary investigations and have assessed the following reserves as viable locations:

  • Orchard Road Reserve
  • Laurie’s Field
  • Hilltop Park
  • Painted Hills Recreation Reserve
  • Elation Boulevard Reserve

These reserves have been assessed as feasible for a number of reasons including land availability, access and proximity to other infrastructure, and access and safety. Within these reserves we have made suggestions for potential sites as shown on the main map here. Photos of these sites are also included in the left side panel.

What you need to do:

We want to hear what you think about our suggested sites, and also if you have suggestions of other sites in Doreen:

  1. For potential sites you like, whether our suggestions or somewhere else in Doreen - drag the green pin to the location and provide a comment on why you think it is a good site.
  2. For sites which you don’t think will work well, drag the red pin to the location and provide a comment on why you don’t think it’s a good site.
  3. To provide your ideas and suggestions for the features and designs of future jumps, drag the orange pin to preferred location and give us your suggestions.  Make sure you include photos of your ideas too.
  4. If you have any other comments, drag the blue pin onto the map and write your comment.

Where to next:

Council will review the ideas and suggestions from the community and combined with our own assessment, will develop a final preferred site option over the coming months. Council will then work with the community to create a concept design for the dirt jumps on this site.

Note:

We do not support jumps being built without the consent of Council. If you are passionate about dirt jumps, we encourage you to get involved and provide your ideas and feedback.
